You’ll always notice car dents or car scratches. Even if no one notices, you’ll know they’re there and spoiling your enjoyment of your Chevy. As your Chevy dealer, we know how much your Chevy means to you. We’d like to advise you on some of the ways you can remove these annoying marks for good.

DIY Methods

If you enjoy DIY, these are a few tips and tricks that can quickly fix various dents and scratches.

Use Suction

Many dents in the metal bodywork can be easily removed by using a bathroom plunger. Wet the area around the dent, then affix the suction cup over the dented section. Once that securely in place, pull on the plunger, and the dent should start to pull out. You can also buy a dent-puller tool that gives you stronger suction and easier leverage.

Boiling Water

Dents in plastic sections, like the bumpers, can be removed using boiling water. For this method, you’ll need a container of hot water, cold water, and tough work gloves. Pour boiling water over the dented plastic to heat the material and make it more malleable. Put on the work gloves, reach behind the dent, and push it back into shape. Once the dent is removed, pour cold water over the plastic to cool it down.

Toothpaste for Scratches

The abrasive particles in toothpaste can be very useful in removing smaller scratches from your car’s paint. Squeeze a pea-sized blob of toothpaste onto your finger, and then rub the toothpaste in a circular pattern over the scratch. Depending on the size of the scratch, you may have to repeat the process several times to remove it.

Scratch Removal Pen

Sometimes, as scratch is too deep for the toothpaste method to work. In these circumstances, you can use a scratch-removal pen. These pens are available in a variety of colors, and they contain a quick-drying lacquer that will penetrate the scratch and erase it. Simply run the pen over the scratch, and the lacquer will fill in the mark.
